so i arrived in england on wednesday and while i haven’t really had a major issue with jetlag, i am just now geting over the aweful flight.
like i know an 8 hour flight is never going to be the best of experiences but this was one of the worst. i was reading ‘the shock doctrine’ by naomi klein and i couldn’t help but think that flying economy should be added to possible torture techniques.
first of all, i’d booked the aisle seat which i was quite happy about, but then the woman seating next to me (in the middle seat) was quite large, and didn’t quite understand the concept of personal space. like i’m a big guy but i still make an effort to contract my body as much as possible so as not to encroach on others seat space. no such courtesy from the woman.
i suppose the real kicker was the food. i was actually quite excited when the attendants started bringing around President’s Choice chicken korma, despite the fact that branded airline seems a little low-classy, but it was absolutely aweful. i don’t know who came up with the idea of promoting PC dinners with airline food, but they should be fired. Quickly. It was terrible and actually managed to put me off PC a bit. then before we landed we were given what was kindly referred to as ‘a light snack.’ i say kindly because it was just a muffin. a muffin with nothing in it. just cake. and it was small. it just made me more thirsty and highlighted the infrequency of the refreshment service. i suppose they probably do all this so that you purchase some of the food and drink from the pay-menu but that makes it no less annoying.
it’s my own fault, i know, for booking a budget airline, but they’ve definitely gone downhill in the past few years as this was aweful. thank god i’m here. hopefully the flight will be better on the way back.
oh, and the movie selection included ‘over her dead body.’ UGH.
